Garland is one of the first fusion albums of L. Subramaniam, in which he teams up with the "Fiddling Viking" Svend Asmussen.
L. Subramaniam first trained deeply in the art of South Indian classical music and then learnt Western classical music and jazz. During his master's course in music composition, he began writing music involving several genres and the Global Fusion idiom was born. Today, he is recognized not only as the foremost Indian violinist but also as the greatest pioneer in the field of Global Fusion music.
Svend Asmussen is a highly acclaimed jazz violinist from Denmark who has been playing since 1923. He has collaborated with some of the biggest names in jazz. He is also a vibraphonist and singer.
